'24 Alien Battle is Here: Box Package Design
This is a multi-year numismatic series launched in 2023. Scottsdale Mint is contracted with Samoa to put forth coins, celebrating the evolving narrative of an alien encounter. The series began in 2023 with the ominous theme of an impending alien invasion, setting the stage for a captivating and suspenseful multi-year storyline.

2023: "Invasion is Coming"

Theme: The anticipation that there will be a battle with an unknown presence, that humanity needs to be ready for.

Focus: Unidentified aerial phenomena, unsettling encounters, and the mounting fear and uncertainty as the world grapples with the unknown.

2024: "Battle is Here"

Theme: The outbreak of hostilities between humanity and the alien forces.

Focus: The battles, the losses, the resistance, and the evolving global response to the alien threat.

2024 Package Design for the '24 Coins:

Theme: "The War Begins"

Design Focus: A bold and impactful red color scheme symbolizing conflict, danger, and the bloodshed of war, with suspenseful imagery on the back and futuristic typography play on the front.

Key Elements & Goal: Overall, the goal for the packaging design was to evoke a sense of urgency and impending danger, perfectly capturing the theme of the alien invasion. My goal was to use a stark black background with a bold red accent that creates a striking visual contrast, immediately drawing the viewer's attention.

Create a compelling and engaging long-term narrative through numismatic art through coin design and packaging to support the coin.

Collaborate with another designer, who created the coins and I created the packaging + COA, to put forth this project and create a brand for the 2024 version, leaning on the prior years' design.
Packaging Design
Kanzen Typeface:
The Kanzen typeface, characterized by sharp, angular lines and a futuristic aesthetic, effectively reinforces the overarching themes of danger and technological advancement prevalent throughout the packaging and 2024 series. This choice of typeface not only aligns with the thematic backdrop of an alien invasion but also subtly hints at the advanced technology wielded by the extraterrestrial forces, further enriching the overall narrative of the series.

Invasion Scene:
The visual centerpiece of the design is a dramatic image of an alien spacecraft hovering ominously over a war-torn cityscape, captured through a distorted lens, effectively conveying a sense of chaos and the blurring of reality. The prominent use of red across the front and sides of the packaging further intensifies the imagery of destruction and bloodshed, leaving no doubt about the gravity of the situation. Adding to the sense of urgency and immediacy, the image appears as if viewed through a surveillance camera or a thermal imaging device, further emphasizing the chaotic and unpredictable nature of the alien invasion. Interestingly, the coordinates embedded within the image seem to point towards a location with a history of alleged extraterrestrial encounters, adding another layer of intrigue and mystery to the narrative.
Color Scheme:
This packaging design for the 2024 series embodies the theme of an impending alien invasion through a striking visual language. The design employs a stark black background, creating a sense of mystery and foreboding. The prominent use of red throughout, particularly in, for example, the "ENERGY" and "FUEL" texts or icons, symbolizes danger and destruction, further intensifying the sense of impending doom. The combination of black and red is particularly effective in creating a sense of urgency and danger. Black represents the darkness and uncertainty surrounding the invasion, while red symbolizes the violence and destruction that accompany it. Technical elements like coordinates, timestamps, and a prominent "BATTLE'S HERE" and "WARNING" messages reinforce the immediacy of the threat, while the overall aesthetic, with its blend of surveillance camera aesthetics and ominous color palette, effectively communicates the narrative of the 2024 series, creating a visually striking and impactful package that leaves a lasting impression.
Certificate of Authenticity (COA)
The Certificate of Authenticity features a sleek and minimalist design, reflecting the futuristic and high-tech theme of the 2024 Samoa Alien Coin Program. The use of bold, geometric typography and a predominantly dark color scheme with red highlights creates a sense of mystery and intrigue, making sure that it stays on brand with the packaging design. The overall design's goal was to make it visually appealing and informative, providing a clear and concise record of the coin's specifications and provenance. In total there are three different types of coins in this program, each having it's own COA.

This Certificate of Authenticity verifies the authenticity of a one-ounce silver color proof coin from the 2024 Samoa Alien Coin Program. It specifies the coin's weight, confirms its silver composition, and states its legal tender value as 2 Samoan Dollars.
1 oz Rhodium Plated Silver, Color (1000 Count):
This Certificate of Authenticity verifies the authenticity of a one-ounce rhodium plated silver color proof coin from the 2024 Samoa Alien Coin Program. It specifies the coin's weight, confirms its silver composition, and states its legal tender value as 2 Samoan Dollars.

This Certificate of Authenticity verifies the authenticity of a one-ounce gold color proof coin from the 2024 Samoa Alien Coin Program. It specifies the coin's weight, confirms its silver composition, and states its legal tender value as 20 Samoan Dollars. This certificate includes a "certificate number", since it is a limited gold coin.
