HEAD Motion Logo

Transforming the HEAD static logo into a motion logo for tennis:

This is a logo project that explores the static HEAD logo specifically considering the tennis/racquet scene. The outcome of the exploration was achieved by manually motion tracking a highlight video of a tennis match featuring Zverev and Busta. Opting for manual motion tracking instead of Adobe AE's automatic tracking gave me more control and a cleaner result, revealing the beauty and precision of their moves and play, highlighting their professionalism and dedication.

After completing the manual motion tracking and refining details such as timing, I added specific effects to enhance the motion graphic. The outcome is a smooth and seamless animation that captures the essence of dedication, hard work, and passion to a sport(s), aligning with the brand's identity. Additionally, the association of Zverev with HEAD adds another layer to the project's context.

Process of the HEAD motion logo:

In the beginning, designing the HEAD Motion tennis logo involved a lot of exploration and research. I sketched storyboards  that focused on how to integrate movement with the HEAD brand, specifically trying to incorporate the tennis ball element into the motion design graphic. The fourth storyboard was a breakthrough, leading me closer to the final logo.

This particular storyboard, the fourth one, showcases the movement of a tennis ball across a flat surface. It sparked the idea of using video as a reference for the logo's animation. To test this concept, I experimented with different video styles. For example, I looked at "first person tennis" footage, where the view is from the player's perspective during a match. However, after testing it out in AE, this approach also didn't quite capture the essence I was looking for. Ultimately, I decided to find a video of a professional tennis match that featured a player sponsored by HEAD, which ended up being Alexander Zverev. This specific detail felt important to directly connect the logo back to the brand and showcase professionalism and dedication to the sport.
