Inner Harbor Poster

This project is a promotional poster for the Inner Harbor in Baltimore, Maryland, designed to entice tourism. My process began with a photograph I captured directly in front of the renowned National Aquarium and other iconic landmarks within the Inner Harbor. After enhancing the photo in Adobe Lightroom, I imported it into Adobe Illustrator to craft the poster. The design seamlessly integrates elements of the Maryland state flag, adding a touch of local pride and visual interest. This poster was inspired by the principles of Bauhaus, a movement renowned for its emphasis on function, simplicity, and geometric forms. I sought to translate this modernist approach into a visually striking and informative design. The bold sans-serif typography for "INNER HARBOR" and "BMORE" not only enhances readability but also reflects the clarity and functionality characteristic of Bauhaus. Geometric shapes, such as the triangular forms in the building and the rectangular frame, dominate the composition, creating a sense of order and structure. The limited color palette, restricted to primary colors with white, reinforces the Bauhaus emphasis on form and function over decorative elements. By employing these core Bauhaus principles, I aimed to create a poster that not only visually represents the Inner Harbor but also conveys a sense of Baltimore's dynamic and forward-thinking spirit. The clean lines, vibrant colors, and bold typography evoke the energy and excitement of the city, inviting viewers to explore this vibrant waterfront destination.
