audiotalk

This UX/UI project aimed to create a mobile app for young adults to connect over shared passions, interests, or hobbies. Users can discover their new likes through lively video chat discussions, engaging group activities, and exciting local events. Through these ways they can also connect with people and grow meaningful relationships. The app fosters a welcoming and supportive community where users can make meaningful connections and enrich their lives beyond work.

Understanding the User, UX Research

Summary, Initial Takeaways

Users want texting to be less overwhelming by offering ways to organize chats (fixed and flexible options) and control privacy settings (group invites, mute options that don't delete conversations). Unnecessary features like unread message counts can be removed, while more chat options and personalization are desired. High quality image/video/sticker/gif options with better resolution and wifi prioritization for large files are important. Integrating social media aspects for familiarity and usability is key, but the texting features should remain the main focus with careful attention to detail. Comparisons are drawn to other apps: iMessage needs clearer names and pictures, Discord excels in organization with tabs, Whatsapp's audio message button is inconvenient, Telegram offers great stickers for emotional expression, and overall call quality (voice and video) needs improvement across apps. Users crave ways to express themselves beyond text, and fun features like stickers are a hit. While iMessage is praised for its interface and pinning messages, Whatsapp is considered outdated visually.

Main Pain Points

1. resolution lacks, especially in visual content (aka images, video, gifs, etc.)

2. audio communication can get tricky because of quality, ease of use, timing, or specific relationships

3. a lot of communication apps are not welcoming, aka the visual language lacks, communication could be improved (ex: more expressions/ways to communicate), and the experience needs to be more fun

4. there are several alike apps, needs to be narrowed/stand out
